Hell-O! We are SWORN ALLEGIANCE

from Saarland, Germany and we play Blackened Thrash Metal with some excursions into Death Metal!

THE EARLY DAYS

Founded in early 2023 as a two member project (Steve on guitar & vocals, Sven on drums), the band has grown to a fix four member group, Chris on Guitar & Alex on Bass. In that Line-Up, the band found a shape and identity, wrote and rehearsed first songs and played their first show (Sept 2023) which was quite a success.

In early fall 2023, the band saw their first Line-up change, with Alex leaving for family reasons and other responsibilities – and Medusa joining in as new bass player. Completed as a new unit, the band visited TORTUGA STUDIOS to record their first EP „THRASH ALLIANCE“. A four track EP, consisting of Thrash till Death Metal numbers, harsh vocals, blast beats and some melodic surprises.

2024

2024 saw the release of the EP (23rd March), including a release show, a new partnership with „HEXENSHOP DARK PHOENIX“ to distribute our merch and CDs and the release of our EP with Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, Apple Music and so on (cf. our media page). Beyond that, further local shows have been played and first interviews have been done to spread our name – and a focus has been laid on writing our debut album whose release is to be expected in spring 2025. Furthermore, another Line-up change has taken place in summer, since Steve has decided to focus on vocals during live and rehearsal activities (while further acting as a main songwriter via guitar). Thus, our Line-up has enlarged to a five piece group since August – Marc and Chris building a strong guitar entity with both on lead and rhythm guitar!

In October, the band played their first show in Baden-Württemberg, Southern Germany – marking their first interregional gig, which turned to be a certain success! Beyond that, the band just hit the studio to record their upcoming new single, which is entitled „SUBTILE TERROR“, to be released in December, as an appetizer for the upcoming debut album!

For the upcoming year, a bunch of shows has already been confirmed, applications for several festivals have been sent, stretching over southern Germany and starting in late 2024.

Currently, we are working on first show international show appearances – stay tuned!

Looking forward to thrash our heads with YOU,

Steve, Chris, Tormentor, Medusa and Sven

THE CREW

STEVE DIGGER

Steve started playing electric guitar in mid-2004, got lessons and earned different skills over the following two years. While doing so, he, as an Old School metalhead, enjoyed learning several songs from favourite bands like Iron Maiden, (Old) Metallica, Running Wild, Judas Priest, Kingdom Come, …and slowly but surely also enlarging his frame (as also did his musical taste) to Extreme Metal, thus practising stuff from Slayer, Cradle of Filth and Gorgoroth.

In mid-2007, he started to play in a first band called SALT WATER, a local cover band, playing Punk and Alternative Rock songs. Meeting them as a spontaneous one-time replacement for their initial bass player (instead of as a guitarist), he stayed with them and joined them permanently. While going on with them, preparing and playing more shows, he found a first metal band, playing classical 80s‘ Thrash and started to write first songs. In parallel, he joined NEMESIS, a Prog Metal band, later that year.

Following a big motivation in making and playing music, he went on with those three bands, acting as guitar player respectively as a bass player. While writing songs for the Thrash Metal band and playing with the other two, he enlarged his band activities up to four, partly even five bands at the same time – thus focusing more on Metal (School) than High School! 😊

In mid-2008, he decided to leave SALT WATER due to stilistic reasons, with the focus on playing in metal bands. During fall of the same year, he joined the band HERALDER: as an Epic Metal band, already existing since many years, demos and a first full length-album in the back catalogue, this marked a certain change in the early music career of Steve. Whereas other bands broke, ceased to exist or faced a complete Line-up change, lots of shows, both locally and interregionally (stretching all over Germany) as well as intense songwriting were following with Heralder.

Thus, with a focus on the new band, a next studio record came into existence and a first full music video was released (2012). After having played a release tour, more shows were following the next year. The end of 2013 saw a fundamental Line-up change in Heralder, which took its time and toll, but also brought a new team, which played different shows and started to write new songs in 2014/2015.

After another big Line-up change, the band resumed work in early 2016 (including a certain new songwriting with fresh input by recent members) – but ceased to exist as a band with regular activity by late 2016. Since the band tried to went on over the next years, but could not find its way back to a regularly working band, the members decided to leave the band – whereas the only remaining founding member brought back together the members of their early days, nearly 20 years ago. Thus, Heralder keeps existing and working, but in their very first Line-up (also releasing new material – stay tuned!).

After having left Heralder, the remaining ex-members (including Steve – now starting to act as a vocalist, aside being guitar player and songwriter) started to work on a new band. Besides this development and during intense songwriting work between Steve and Sven (the drummer) for the band, which is called GRAVE CIRCLE in the meantime (Epic Metal, news coming up soon!), Steve came up to find a second band, focusing on Extreme Metal (Death/Thrash), whereby Sven joined in immediately – and that man, Sven, is the same drummer as mentioned above in the biography of Sworn Allegiance…

Hey I‘m Chris, born in 1999 and I'm playing guitars since 2006. My musical influence started with AC/DC as a 2-year-old child and expended at the age of 8 with Metallica.

The biggest influence of my playing comes from James Hetfield, and Accept's great Wolf Hoffmann. My favourite bands are Sodom, Metal Church and Obituary by now.

On 21. April 2023, I met Steve on an Overkill show at Saarbrücken and he asked me to join his band. Thus, I became a firm member and play Lead and Rhythm Guitars with Sworn Allegiance since then.

In 2024, I also became a member of TORTUGA. A PIRATE Hard’n’Heavy Group.

And yes! MEDUSA, our Bassist is my mum for REAL😂🤘

Chris 'Deathhammer'

Marc 'Morbid Tormentor' Berlt

Marc started to play guitar in 2005/2006 due to the releases of Trivium's "Ascendancy" and "The Crusade" as well as Bullet for my Valentine's "The Poison" Album which caught him into the Metal music. His teacher was the Iron Maiden Live in Donington 1992 DVD - with this masterpiece, he learned by watching Dave Murray and Janick Gers how to play. He never had actual lessons to this day.

In 2007/2008 he joined the School Band and performed songs like "Nothing else matters" or "Knocking on Heaven's Door" in front of a few hundred people.
After leaving School, he only played alone for fun and while joining the Army in 2014, he couldn´t find enough time for bands.
After leaving the Army in 2018, he began working as a nurse and find back into guitar playing. In 2020, he also started playing bass guitar and in 2022, he joined the German Heavy Rock band "Gra.Nied", followed by the Blackenend Heavy Metal band "Satanatics" as a bassist in the following year.

Because of stilistic reasons and the whish to perform as a guitarist, he left Gra.Nied and joined Sworn Allegiance in August 2024.
To this day, he plays bass for Satanatics and guitars for Sworn Allegiance.

Medusa started to play the bass in 2023 as she was asked to be part of Sworn Allegiance.

Since this moment, she had never played in a band. She started to make music in the 1980s first with playing the recorder and singing in a couple of choirs and at the age of ten, she started playing trumpet, took lessons and joined a local orchestra. But she was always interested in learning to play guitar.

Caused of finishing school, doing studies and raising children, the making of music stood back for a long time. She only sang in some choirs. But music itself never lost it’s fascination to her. Listening to new music was an important part of her life. So it is no surprise that the interest came to Metal at some point. Here is Chris, one of the guitarists and son of Medusa, the one who introduced her to this kind of music. Till this moment, she heard more pop and rock like Elton John or Scorpions for example. But this changed quickly to bands like Disturbed, Nightwish, Judas Priest and harder stuff like Sodom, Rotting Christ and others more.

Now she not only plays the bass, she writes her own basslines and does a lot of organization for the band.

Doublebass SVEN

I had my first drum lessons in the mid-80s when I was 15/16 years old. Influenced by 70's AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, but above all by the early 80's hard rock and heavy metal bands and American punk hardcore bands, I tried to play this music style with friends - at the age of 16/17 starting on my own drum set. After a few years and several line-up changes, the band was unable to form a line-up, so when I was about 20 I switched to a band called "Mysterious Fate", a hard rock band with biker roots, with which I made a demo and played gigs. After a year, I tried again with friends with the band "EGADS", progressive rock, hard rock. In about three years, there were several gigs, a demo and the final of a basement band competition.

During this time, I continued to take drum lessons from jazz and fusion rock drummers. I was mainly influenced by jazz, Latin rhythms and percussion instruments. After that, I played for about a year with the mainstream rock band "Drastic Measure".

Having left Drastic Measure, there were several short-lived, diverse projects in different (metal) genres and as part of open youth work in youth centers. Since 2021, there has been another band project, "Heralder" – and since early 2023 "Sworn Allegiance".
